Weekend Update

Hi friends! I can't believe it's already Sunday and the weekend is almost over, they always fly by way too quickly. I can't complain too much though because I had a nice, relaxing weekend with some of my best friends.

Friday night I ventured out in uptown Dallas with Heather and Rachel to try out a new (to us) restaurant and catch up with each other. I know both girls from college but Heather lives about twenty minutes from me, while Rachel lives in Fort Worth, which is quite a drive. We don't get to see Rachel as much as we'd like but we try our best to get together a few times a year and fill each other in on our lives. I love seeing old friends and being able to pick up right where things left off. Needless to say, it was a fun night.

Saturday was a well-deserved lazy day. Heather, Brittany and I went to our favorite sushi place, Ra, for lunch then did a little shopping. After shopping and sushi we parted ways and I spent the rest of the evening enjoying some 'me' time. It was nice to just relax on my couch and catch up on a crochet project and some tv shows. Sometimes that's just the best way to spend a Saturday night.

Today was another day spent with friends, this time to celebrate Diana's birthday and my new job. Heather, Brittany, Diana and I met up for a late brunch around 2 at our favorite spot, Taverna. We all indulged in dollar mimosas (yes, just a dollar!) and I got my favorite Taverna brunch dish: eggs benedict with crabmeat, yum! After Taverna we had dessert (brunch dessert is a thing...right?) at Marble Slab, which I hadn't been to in forever and it didn't disappoint! As always, our brunch date was a blast.

Now time to kick back and watch the Grammys while working some more on my crochet project. I hope everyone had a great weekend!

Tuesday Nights

Tuesdays are a mixed bag for me, for some reason the work day feels ten times longer than every other day, but as far as tv goes it's the best day of the week. My must-watch shows are New Girl and The Mindy Project, much like the rest of America, I'm sure.

New Girl is good but The Mindy Project is my absolute favorite. I always liked Mindy Kaling in The Office but the love affair was fully developed after I read her book, Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (And Other Concerns). Until that point I had no clue that she was actually one of the writers of The Office. She has carried the hilarity on to her own show and, aside from The Bachelor, it's the one show that I consistently remember to watch. That being said, I just remembered there was an extra episode of The Bachelor tonight...oops. Good thing it's 2013 and we have the Internet so I can catch up on that later!

Anyway, it's time to get back to my shows. New Girl has been hilarious and I'm sure I'll LOL through The Mindy Project. If you haven't watched either show, or you've watched one but not the other...then why are you still reading this?! Go check them out now!

Hello There

As a New Years resolution I decided to try something new each month of the year, so this month I am taking the leap to start a blog. It may not seem like much of a leap but it's something new for me and I'm looking forward to seeing how this blog develops throughout the year. As far as other New Years resolutions go, they were pretty typical: improve my eating and workout more, save more money etc. I'm looking to get involved in some sort of charity organization, I will have to start keeping an eye out for promising opportunities. Thus far, I've worked out a few times, eaten way better (for the most part) and tried out some Spanish dishes for the first time. My resolutions are slowly coming right along :)

I'm currently attempting to write this while watching The Bachelor with three of my best friends and I have clearly made very little progress over the past couple of hours.* I think it's time to wrap this first post up. I hope anyone reading this is having a great Monday! Come back for more :)

*No judgement, I used to hate this show but since making it a weekly tradition with my best girlfriends I have really grown to enjoy it. I may get nothing else out of it other than making fun of the crazies with my best friends but it's still fun!

Here are some of our previous Bachelor venues:

Ketchup Burger Bar in Dallas where they gave us our own corner and volume control.

Their fries must be mentioned, they are beyond delicious.

At Diana's one night (we pre-gamed with Seinfeld).
